CENTER FOR BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC RESEARCH
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

The University of Tennessee is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Research Associate in the Center for Business and Economic Research.  A person with a strong interest and aptitude for researching economic issues is required.  The selected candidate must have at least a Bachelor's Degree.  Excellent research and quantitative capabilities are required.  Ability to work in a group environment as well as independently is necessary.  Familiarity with programming languages and web script languages is desired, although candidate need not be a programmer.  Solid statistical or econometric skills are desired.  Knowledge of SQL Analysis Services (OLAP) is preferred, as well as experience building large, complex databases using SQL server.  Responsibilities include building, organizing, securing and maintaining large, confidential databases and preparing statistical analyses and presenting research results using up-to-date software packages and other tools as necessary. The person will exercise initiative in providing research assistance and working on research projects. The person will be expected to develop strong software skills and work on a variety of economic research issues.  Some interaction with clients is necessary.
